Start your coloring journey in small steps, think about block coloring using pen or pencil. This will give you the basic skills of applying color to the page and get you comfortable with the techniques to control your pen or pencils and stick within the lines. Then treat yourself to a refresher on color palettes, remind yourself about the color wheel and how certain colors work better together than others. Even take a look at how different colors can evoke different moods and feelings when used in a coloring page.
Find your space. Whether you are coloring for relaxation, to de-stress or simply for fun, you need a place where you are comfortable coloring. It doesn’t have to be somewhere quiet (although that can certainly help if you want to get lost in your coloring page), there are plenty of coloring groups and meetups where adults who enjoy coloring can go to chatter and color at the same time, the important thing is find your own space, reserve some time, get a comfy seat and give yourself every opportunity to color in comfort.
A coloring page is a marathon, not a sprint! Coloring is a great activity to fit in-between other jobs in your day – waiting for the kids from school? Spend 20 minutes coloring. Got the house to yourself for 30 minutes before your friends drop by? Start that new coloring page!
